Colonel David Arther Jones late DERR

The Association has been informed by his son-in-law, that Colonel David Jones, late DERR, died aged 87 years on 13 June. A Service of Thanksgiving was held at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin at Powerstock, Dorset on 5 July.Born in 1936, Colonel Jones was educated at Abingdon School where he was Head Boy and Captain of Cricket. In those days Abingdon was still in Berkshire and the school CCF was affiliated to The Royal Berkshire Regiment. Family, friends and Old Comrades gathered on 11 June at the Church of All Saints in Sutton Courtenay near Abingdon for the funeral of ex CSgt Miguel Navarro, known as Mike and/or 'Spanish' to his comrades during his service in the 1st Battalion The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire) (1 DERR). Memorial Service for Captain Clive Ireson, late DERR

Further to the announcement in the April Newsletter of the death of Captain Clive Ireson on 28 March 2024, his son Steve has now informed me that his Memorial Service will be held at 14:00 hours at St. James Church, Church Walk, Devizes, SN10 3AA on Friday 31 May. There will be a reception after the service at The Wyvern Club (opposite the Church). The family have requested that donations be made to Cancer Research UK rather than sending flowers.
