The Death of Derrick Elliott

Good evening to you all.
Unfortunately I am the bearer of some very sad news.
Derrick Elliott did not win his battle with pneumonia and past away today.
Although the outlook was bad, I still hoped and prayed that he would pull through. Sadly this was not to happen.
RIP Derrick a fighter to the end.
Sleep well buddy.

C Company - Malta

'This is believed to be 'C' Company in Malta carrying out an exercise in landing from the sea. We do not know the names of those deployed in this image or location, can anyone help.  If we obtain any names they will be added to the archive'.

If anyone has any more images of the Malta/Cyprus postings we would welcome the chance of adding them to the Regimental photographic archive.

Memorial Service 50th Anniversary Sandes Bombing & XMG Ambush

This morning our museum hosted a memorial service commemorating the 50th anniversary of the bombing at Sandes Home, Abercorn Barracks, Ballykinler on the 28th October 1974, and the later ambush at Crossmaglen on the 6th November 1974.

Alongside the event, the museum has welcomed the remembrance plaque to Lance Corporal Coughlan and Private Swanick, (the two 1 DERR soldiers who lost their lives on the 28th October), to our memorial garden. The plaque, previously outside the rebuilt Sandes House in Northern Ireland, will now be permanently here at The Wardrobe.
