The Regimental Sergeant Major (Warrant Officer Class one)
The REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR (RSM) is the senior Warrant officer and enlisted man in the Battalion, and as such holds an important position of authority within the Regimental organization. To many young soldiers within any Infantry Battalion the ‘R.S.M.’ was somebody to be avoided at all costs, and it appeared to many a soldier that all ‘R.S.M.s’ are born old.
