The Vickers was classified as a Medium machine gun , the dress suggests this could have been Ex Starlight Express when the Battalion was in Tidworth prior to Malta, very hard to ID due to the type of photo

I remember Sgt “Simmo” Simpson firing a Vickers MG on the ranges in Malta when I joined the Bn in 1964(?) Can’t ID him in this photo..
From Leon Zawadzki Via Facebook
This was taken in Malta next to the Pembroke Ranges which was common practise in 1962-65. Sgt Simpson was the Pl Sgt At the time.
Gents,
Many thanks for these very quick replies with relevant info. We will go with Leon regarding the location in Malta which appears to be right. I don’t think Sergeant Simpson is in the image but the info that he was the platoon Sergeant at that time is valid and added to the record. Bill…….. many thanks for the info re adjusting the description of the weapon from ‘Heavy’ to ‘Medium’. The info re the Starlight exercise in Libya which was early in 1960, but I must point out the STARLIGHT EXPRESS you referred to is a show in the West end of London. 15 all…….
Once again gents, many thanks, I may well test your memories later.
Many regards
